Bauer's Bio

Rex Bauer is a composer, audio-video producer, recording engineer and musician with a unique set of skills. His background of more than 20 years as a professional musician, a recording engineer and producer for several radio stations along with his ten years as a producer for National Public Radio qualify him to compose, perform and produce music and sound designs for any project. As a teacher Rex has taught guitar to thousands of students, both private and group lessons, over the past 16 years, specializing in blues, jazz, rock, country, improvisational techniques, bottleneck slide guitar and music theory. He's written his own book on applied music theory to guitar, conducted workshops and produced play-along CD's.

He has written, produced and performed promotional music for the film "The Kings of Appletown," directed by Academy Award winner Bobby Moresco and has composed the score to the independent film "Butterfly," produced and directed by Paolo Durazzo. He has also composed and performed music for a series of radio and television commercials for the St. Louis Repertory Theater (which has now aired for five years running on radio and TV stations in the St. Louis area) as well as break music for National Public Radio. He's performed throughout the US and Europe with various artists including Grammy Award winner Fletch Wiley and Washington DC's famed big band, The Imperial Palms Orchestra. His 2007 released CD, "Hidden Charms" has aired on radio stations across the country including KJAZZ in Los Angeles and WPFW in Washington DC.

His ten years at NPR demonstrate his proven ability to work efficiently and coolly under deadline pressure at the highest level of broadcast standards. He is well acquainted with the production environments of radio, film and television, having worked as an actor (stage and on camera), voice-over announcer and narrator, cameraman, floor manager, grip and master control engineer. Rex brings a wealth of skill, talent, dedication, passion and experience to any project that he undertakes.
